After years of waiting, ACOTAR fans finally have official news. Sarah J. Maas has confirmed that A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 6 will be released on October 27, 2026, with Book 7 arriving shortly after on January 12, 2027.
The announcement came during a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, where Maas revealed that the next chapter of the ACOTAR universe will actually unfold across two books released back-to-back.
For fans of the Night Court, Velaris, and the entire Prythian world, this is the biggest ACOTAR update in years. 
Why ACOTAR Book 6 Took So Long
The last novel in the series, A Court of Silver Flames, was released in February 2021. Since then, fans have been waiting nearly five years for the next installment.
According to Sarah J. Maas, the delay came down to timing and finding the right story.
She explained that she needed time to get into the right creative space before writing the next arc of the series. Once the story began flowing, however, it came together quickly and ended up becoming much larger than expected.
Because of this, Maas decided to split the story into two major books instead of one.

ACOTAR Book 6 and Book 7 Are One Massive Story
Instead of treating the upcoming novels as separate storylines, Maas described them as one massive narrative.
In her writing process, she structured the story in parts:
1. ACOTAR Book 6 - Part 1
2. ACOTAR Book 7 - Parts 2 and 3
She also hinted that the story may eventually continue even further, potentially leading to an eighth book later on, though her focus right now is finishing and releasing the next two novels.
